A native of Los Angeles (Culver City), born on June 15, 1963, and daughter of Director Gordon Hunt, Helen Hunt has been involved with the entertainment industry since early childhood. But she was able to made her mark as an actress and also comic performer since she started in the role of an urban wife of co-star Paul Reiser I the NBC hit TV series Mad About You which premiered in 1992 and ended March 24th, 1999 . Every week she charms millions of television viewers with her honey-haired good looks, caustic wit, and effortless charm. Born in a family involved with the entertainment industry of Hollywood., Hunt decided at the age of six that she wanted to be an actress, and by the time she was nine, she had already studied acting, hired an agent, and appeared on The Mary Tyler Moore Show (as Murray Slaughter's daughter). She landed roles in several television movies, including The Quarterback Princess, and a part on the short-lived series It Takes Two. These efforts led to a recurring role on St. Elsewhere. Hunt also starred in two major classical New York theater productions--The Taming of the Shrew and Our Town--but found theater work harder and harder to come by because of her reputation as a "television" actress. Hunt broke into films with 1986's Peggy Sue Got Married, in which she played the daughter of Nicolas Cage and Kathleen Turner. She delivered one of her finest film performances in The Waterdance, in a tough role that she admits she pursued "like a bloodhound." Co-star Eric Stoltz later commented of Hunt's dedication, "People don't realize that Helen's the hardest-working gal in showbiz." Her reputation as a diligent worker has stuck with her, and her efforts on both the big and small screens have consequently been amazingly successful. The 1996 summer blockbuster Twister turned out to be one of the biggest money-making endeavors in the history of cinema, and her Oscar-nominated performance in 1997's As Good As It Gets reaped countless critical hosannas. As for the small screen, the continued appeal of Mad About You can be attributed in large measure to Hunt, and her solid performance on the long-running series has been rewarded with a brace of Emmy Awards. Over twenty-five million people tuned in to the 1997 season finale of the show to witness the birth of Jamie and Paul's baby. Having studied at UCLA, Helen Hunt began a two-year romance with Matthew Broderick, in 1986, whom she met on the set of Project X. After that relationship fizzled, she dated a C.A.A. agent, and then began seeing an actor, Hank Azaria, who is the voice behind several characters on The Simpsons, and who won raves as Agador, the cross-dressing houseboy in the hit comedy The Birdcage
